Starbucks and.. Kids.

Listening to: Dramatic by YUKI

Every time I step into Starbucks, I notice that there's a fair amount of teenagers comfortably fiddling around with their laptops or studying. That's a sight I'm not so used to. Never in my five years of studying in secondary school have I actually studied in Starbucks, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, etc. Besides the fact that there is *cough* no Starbucks in Kota Kemuning. For now, that is. The presence of college students in Starbucks is acceptable. Why? Because.. er.. it's just acceptable seeing college students wasting time in Starbucks!

Okay, so that was lame. But still, I don't get why secondary school students have to study in Starbucks. They could always study at home or go to a friend's house or study somewhere cheaper. Heck, I even studied at a mamak before. The most expensive food outlet I went to for a group study was McDonald's. And that was once. Most of the time I study at the school library or at home. During my secondary school days of course. Not now. Now I barely do study.

What annoys me is the huge number of these kids roaming the place. It would be so much more better if they would just shut the hell up. Those who are exceptionally quiet are those with their laptops/notebooks. Busy surfing the net or doing work. Those who are exceptionally noisy are those who tell their parents they're (kononnyer) studying when they're actually gossiping and wasting precious time in Starbucks. Not that I don't waste precious time but at least I don't gossip - as much as they do. When I say gossip, I am referring to girls. Since they make the most noise.

Annoyed as I am, I can't deny the change in culture as time goes by. Kids getting money from their rich parents to spend time in Starbucks is becoming a norm. Still, I guess things are just different among the community nowadays. Our lepak spots determine our social class. I lepak at mamaks, not Starbucks. I suppose you could guess which social class I belong to. Okay, that's just too much. Rich people can hang out at mamaks too, actually. But that's because their poor friends can't afford Starbucks (;

PS: I'm sorry for not being the person you want me to be. Please, let's just make the most out of each other.

PPS: People, don't ask me about the song I embedded onto my blog. I'm just feeling very in the 80s right now and it's been ages since I've listened to this song. Rock the 80s!

2012 Contest

Listening to: Nothing

2012 happens to be one of the movies I have been looking forward to watching ever since I saw the trailer.. uh.. last year? I think. Either late last year or early this year, I am not so sure. My dad is a fan of all these science fiction movies involving 'other-beings' and real historical evidence of these beings discovered by Zecharia Sitchin in his books. And now I've got the chance to not only win a pair of tickets to the premier screening of 2012 courtesy of Nuffnang, but I also get the chance to stay in Colombo for 4 days and 3 nights courtesy of www.2012.com.my. That's the grand prize of course.

I was reluctant to participate in this competition at first. I had to think of something that I would like to put in a Time Capsule to survive 2012's disaster. I had nothing in mind. While thinking about what I would like to preserve in the Time Capsule, I recalled myself in my college lift. I did not intend to overhear a girl's conversation but I did. I couldn't help it, the lift was so small. She was talking about her assignment for her Advertising subject- the object she decided to advertise were mooncakes.

And then I snapped back to the present. Why not? Keeping a mooncake (in my case, a quarter-eaten mooncake) in a Time Capsule for the next four years would remind me of my favorite Hong Kong TVB series, Moonlight Resonance. Ah, the gan jeong-ness rising within me when I watch Moonlight Resonance. If I open the Time Capsule in another four years and take a bite from the mooncake, I might just experience that feeling all over again.

I need to win this. I want to win this. I want to sit in an airplane -

-because the last time I did, I was a year-old. Hence, I can't remember a thing.

I Am Sho Exhausted.

Listening to: Supermassive Black Hole by Muse

Reasons as to why I did not update the past few days:

1. I was deprived of my sleep.

2. My PC is always occupied.

3. I've got too many things to talk about, therefore am unable to decide on what to post about.

I am contemplating on what I should blog about next, so keep checking in for updates.

PS: I just checked my e-mail inbox and received an e-mail from Nuffnang. I won a pair of invites to the premiere screening of Whiteout starring Kate Beckinsale at GSC Tropicana on 13/10 (9 PM) . I didn't expect it because I kinda crapped up the slogan but it's good I guess. Get to watch a free movie.

It's The First (Of October Of Course)!

Listening to: I Wish by L'Arc~en~Ciel

My History presentation today didn't really go well. But I am quite impressed that I am able to explain at least a little on what I had to present. Every time I asked a question, I get blank stares. Firstly, because Ms Jaime did not cover what I had to present. Second, my font was too small. I had to read out the questions like, twice, just to get people to hear properly since they couldn't read the question projected on the screen. I suppose I got some marks deducted but overall I feel I did fine.

I noticed I've been watching a lot of Paul Giamatti lately. A few nights ago I watched him in the movie Shoot 'Em Up. Then, I had to search for a video related to what I was presenting and I came across Paul Giamatti again playing John Adams on the HBO Film Series: John Adams (which I downloaded and presented today). And I just finished watching Planet of the Apes where Paul Giamatti plays the orang utan slave trader. When I came to realize that the actor playing John Adams was Paul Giamatti, I couldn't really believe it. He's such a comedian. It's like seeing Adam Sandler acting in The Ten Commandments. Ahh, Funny People.

Baby sent his car for servicing today. Had a great time with him while waiting for his car and after his car was done. He drove me back to KK but before leaving, we went to a mamak nearby my house to have a drink. We were practically dehydrated. I had to stand under the sun beside Baby and listen to the Perodua guy talk to Baby for at least 10 minutes about RPM and whatnots. It was agonizing. And I had no water with me. But it was worth it. It always is, just getting to be with him. Mwah (:

(No, we didn't go to Times Square while waiting for his car.)

I think I'm gonna get my hair cut tomorrow. Just gonna re-layer it. Length will remain the same. I hope. I hate going to hair salons. They never cut my hair the way I want it to be cut. But do I have a choice? I'm planning to not dye my hair for quite some time because I wanna get my new I/C done. Dyed hair is not allowed apparently. I don't get it. Even after we take our pictures with our black hair, some would probably dye their hair anyway. Don't get what's up with such funny rules.

PS: Aii Luhhve Youu Wyz!

Lucky Me.

Listening to: Superwoman by Alicia Keys

Ms. Jaime returned to us our respective Media Blackout Experiment assignment papers. Looky what I got!

And it was all a load of thrash. I'm too lazy to take a picture of the other pages. They're funny though, she commented a lot on my paper compared to Tanzy's one :p And omg all the smileys she doodled on my papers! But getting a 10/10 is easy. I bet many others (like Tanzy's) in class got full marks. They're awesome people. So, nothing to be proud of actually. Just the fact that I crapped it all up and still managed to slip through. I'm praying she wouldn't stumble across my blog. Alright! 10 percent contribution to my grade this semester is secured. Now for the remaning percentages.

My History presentation is due tomorrow. One group member deferred. One group member has not replied any of our messages/e-mails/calls. Wish me luck. Go John Adams! Sorry, it's just kind of random. Just that my mind has been clouded with John Adams for days because of History =/

Just something I wanted to share with everyone. Credits to Jquek, my bro stuck in Brunei.

PS: I need you in my life.
